Hello, my name is Nyema Barmore. I am currently a sophomore at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU). I have always found it fascinating how technology works and has advanced over the years. From elementary school I was introduced to the large spectrum that technology covers. Over the years my knowledge advanced to the point by middle school, l was the go to person for technical support for family and friends. I as I got older learning more about computers and computer programing was a favorite pastime of mine.  While attending high school I participated in the Great Computer Challenge and attended the college level computer courses at Tidewater Community College.

I participate in the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research Program (CERSER) which is under the leadership of Dr. Linda B. Hayden. I plan to use the skills and knowledge I gain from the internships, conferences, enrichment activities, and the distinguished lectures to aid my future career as a computer scientist.
During the 2012 Spring semester I was a member of Mobile Applications Research Team at ECSU. Our research was titled,"Integration with a Web Application
to Create Navigational Instructions for Locations on the Campus of Elizabeth City State University". The purpose of the Mobile Applications Research Team was to create an interface mashup in which geographic information and meta data from buildings located on the campus of ECSU can be presented to users via mobile platforms.

During my time in the Research Experience for Undergraduates in Ocean, Marine, and Polar Sciences program I have learn gain skills using GPS, MATLAB, and Linux. I was apart of the Penn State University Team. Our research was titled,"Using CReSIS Radar Data to Determine Ice Thickness at Pine Island Glacier By Topographic Identification of Surface”. Our team analyzed CReSIS radar data to identify the ice-surface and ice-bottom features, from which both elevation and ice thickness at Pine Island Glacier were determined.

I enjoy working with computers and I plan to use all of the skills and knowlege that I have gained at ECSU to help me with my excel.  In the future I plan to work in the animation and game design field. I ultimately plan to have my own animation and game design studio.
